The 2012 Exclusive Brands SOURCEBOOK is a work in progress, continually being expanded and updated. There is no resource anywhere that gives you such a comprehensive perspective--its emphais on the private label business. Besides ranking retailers and wholesalers worldwide in terms of their total sales volumes and private label sales , the SOURCEBOOK drills down via its company profiles to document changes and developments at each retail and wholesale operation. Manufactursers and suppliers as well are profiled with respect to their involvement in the private label business. This unique perspective includes major brand name manufacturers/processors who, by virtue of their size, also contribute significantly to specific product categories in the private label sector. In the SOURCEBOOK'S retailers' section, we take measure of companies who each sell total private label sales exceeding $1 billion. The tally totals a worldwide volume in excess of $1 trillion. These companies together generate out of a total market volume greater than $4 trillion in retail/wholesale sales.

There are more than 200 detailed profiles of retailers and wholesalers in the SOURCEBOOK. Examples of these profiles appear in our samples (see below). The demographic breakdown: 22 in Asia/Pacific Rim/MiddleEast/Africa, 1 in Iceland, 14 in Canada, 3 in Mexico, 5 in South America, 70 in Europe, 90 in the United Sates. Additionally, some 10 foodservice groups, 8 acount specific brokers, and 10 trade associations are profiled in detail. SOURCEBOOK serves as a barometer for the global retail marketplace, covering all sectors--food, drugstore, mass merchandiser, department store, specialty retailer.

Section 3 of the 2011 Exclusive Brands features detailed profiles on more than 600 manufacturers & suppliers in this business. They cover nearly every major product category found in retail stores: foods, beverages, health & beauty care products, general merchandise, household supplies, apparel, etc. All of these companies are indexed alphabetically and by product categories.

Nearly 20 years ago, we began tracking the major players in the private label business--focused on profiles of only those retailers/wholesalers, each with sales in excess of $1 billion. One of those players, Walmart, is now closing in on the half way mark toward a trillion dollar volume, while four others--Carrefour, Tesco, McKesson (wholesale), and Metro of Germany, each have total sales exceeding $100 billion.
